What Does a Brief Arbitration Program Cover?
For interstate household movers, arbitration regulations cover two main forms of disputes: Loss & Damage Claims and Moving Charge Claims. Our arbitration programs cover both of these disputes.
Loss & Damage Claims
If a client’s goods are lost or damaged while being transported, and there is disagreement over the cause or value of the loss or damage, then the case goes to arbitration. These cases are focused on whether or not there was real loss or damage caused by the shipment. Unless the disputed amount is more than $10,000, it is mandatory for the claim to go to arbitration.
Moving Charges
It's common for your moving business to incur unforeseen costs during shipments, including client’s under-reporting the amount of goods they need transported. Moving charge disputes occur when clients dispute extra charges that are applied to their invoice once shipments have been delivered. Once again, unless the dispute amount is more than $10,000 it is mandatory for the claim to go to arbitration.
